Marianne is an unusual investigator. Her efforts commence with zero belief that any offence has been committed. Furthermore, she is rather reluctant to look askance at the people involved. Indeed, she has all manner of reasons to interpret the evidence and circumstances in their favour.
Now, she is in the final stages of the investigation, convinced that the case is not worthy of further attention and should be closed once and for all. However, seemingly out of the blue, she encounters a memory buried deep within her subconscious and, coincidentally, receives a letter from her maid of honour. Suddenly, individual pieces of information collide, revealing a shocking discovery that shines a new light on her efforts. A crime! A crime may have been committed.
What began as a ghost story has become a murder investigation.
