Chapter 22 – A crime! A crime!

Archduchess Marianne is, without doubt, an unusual investigator. She began her efforts with no belief whatsoever that any offence had been committed. Moreover, she was rather reluctant to cast suspicion on any of the people involved; indeed, she had every reason to interpret the evidence and circumstances in their favour.

Then, just as she reaches the final stages of her inquiry, convinced that the case is unworthy of further attention and ought to be closed once and for all, a set of seemingly unrelated pieces of information collides — revealing a shocking discovery that casts an entirely new light on her efforts.

A crime! A crime may have been committed!

The case of Princess Schwarzenberg, which began as a ghost story, has become a murder investigation.
